TIMING: THE ART OF SYNCHRONY in CONTACT IMPROVISATION
In this class, we train the ability to perceive "the right moment," cultivating attention and presence so we can move together through the journey of shared weight, moving together with the forces of biomechanics.
Recognizing these forces and how we relate to them gives us the possibility of using them to our advantage.
Using gravity to fall and fly, inertia to sustain the flow; rolling to preserve the energy of movement.
Allowing ourselves to be moved through helps us reduce effort and recognize opportunities to shift states at the real speed of the dance, paying attention to what is happening in our bodies and in relation to others.
The focus on synchrony is, above all, about restoring the body's capacity to respond - physically tuning in so that we become increasingly sensitive to what is alive, to the real forces that emerge in the dance.
We train a state of deep listening in which the body guides us through not knowing.
